Which class should I take?
Children's Ballet (ages 3-8)
Discovering Dance (ages 3-4)
Discovering Dance is an early introduction to dance and creative movement in an engaging, nurturing, and supportive environment. Props, stories, and guided improvisation are used to build spatial awareness, socialization and gross motor skills, while fostering a love of dance.
Pre-Ballet (ages 4-5)
Pre-Ballet 1 builds on the dance and creative movement skills introduced in Discovering Dance while introducing basic ballet vocabulary and dance classroom etiquette. Students will skip, gallop, march, jump, and leap as they work on balance, coordination, and rhythm. Discovering Dance is not a pre-requisite for Pre-Ballet 1.
Pre-Ballet 2 (ages 5-6)
Pre-Ballet 2 introduces classical ballet positions and terminology such as tendu, plié, and sauté as students continue to build on the dance and creative movement skills introduced in previous levels. There is a focus on posture, body awareness, rhythm, and musicality as students continue to develop joy of movement in an encouraging environment.
Ballet 1 (ages 6-7)
Ballet 1 focuses on foundational ballet skills at the center and across the floor. Students will build strength, coordination, and flexibility while participating in traditional ballet exercises, as well as creative and free dance movements in a fun, supportive environment.
Ballet 2 (ages 7-8)
Ballet 2 continues to build foundational ballet skills at the barre, in the center and across the floor. Students will focus on posture, technical skills, and musicality, while beginning to refine technique.
Youth and Teen Ballet (ages 9+)
Ballet 3 (ages 9-12)
This beginning ballet class for 9-12 year olds does not require previous dance experience. Ballet 3 builds and refines classical ballet technique at the barre, in the center and across the floor. Students will learn ballet vocabulary, as well as all aspects of a traditional ballet class in a nurturing, engaging environment.
Ballet 4 (ages 9-12)
This intermediate ballet class for ages 9-12 requires at least one year of ballet. Ballet 4 students continue to build and refine technique, strength and flexibility at the barre, in the center and across the floor. There is a focus on discipline, as students progress from the basics into more advanced movements.
Teen Ballet (12+)
This mixed level ballet class for teens does not require previous ballet experience. Teen Ballet introduces classical ballet positions and terminology as students participate in exercises at the barre, center, and across the floor in a supportive, engaging environment.
Tap and Jazz
Tap 1 (ages 6-10)
This beginning tap class is for ages 6-10, with one year or less of tap experience. Tap 1 introduces basic tap technique, steps and sounds, as students develop rhythm and coordination.
Tap 2 (ages 8-12)
This class is open to dancers age 8-10 with at least one year of tap experience and dancers age 11-12 with or without previous experience. Tap 2 builds on the knowledge of basic tap technique as students put together steps in a variety of ways and increase their rhythm and musicality.
Jazz (ages 12+)
This jazz class introduces basic jazz technique, with a warm up, combinations in the center and across the floor, as well as choreography. Dancers also enrolled in our Pre-Professional Program should contact the front desk for registration.
